To get the IDS version, use the onstat command with the -V option as follows:
              $ onstat -V
              $ IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.UC2

The two letters in the version number indicate the Informix 32 or 64-bit versions:
   ■   UC/UD: 32-bit
   ■   FC/UD: 64-bit
   ■   HC/UD: 32-bit (on 64-bit platform)

To get the operating system version, use the uname command with the -a option as follows:
              $ uname -a
              $ Linux lab1 2.4.21-4.ELsmp #1 SMP

This indicates that the OS platform is Linux with kernel 2.4.21.
